The train engineer is responsible for the safe operation of the train and its passengers. The engineer must be knowledgeable about all aspects of the train, including its speed, weight, and braking systems. The engineer must also be aware of any hazardous conditions on or near the track in front of them.

Every day, a train engineer will do routine checks to ensure that their train is running smoothly. They will also monitor gauges and switches to make sure that their train is not exceeding any safety limits. Finally, they will make sure that all passengers are safe before leaving the station.

To become a train engineer in India, you need to follow the below steps:

Educational Qualifications: You need to have completed your 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics as core subjects from a recognized board.

Pursue a degree or diploma course: You can opt for a degree or diploma course in engineering, such as mechanical, electrical, or electronics, which will help you gain knowledge in the relevant field.

Apply for a railway job: The Indian Railways regularly advertise vacancies for the position of train engineer. Keep an eye on the railway recruitment board's website or local newspapers for job openings.

Clear the recruitment process: The recruitment process includes a written test, an interview, and a medical test.

Training: After you clear the recruitment process, you will undergo training at the railway training institute. The training usually lasts for a year, and during this time, you will learn about the different aspects of train operations.

On-the-job training: Once you complete your training, you will undergo on-the-job training, where you will be assigned as an assistant driver under the supervision of an experienced driver.

Promotions: You can also get promoted to higher positions based on your performance, experience, and educational qualifications.
